How we handle your data

This page describes how the BUEXAM product handles information. It covers signed-in accounts, onboarding preferences, practice attempts stored in your browser, and messages you send through Contact.

BUEXAM is an independent practice platform. It is not operated by Boğaziçi University, YADYOK, IELTS partners, ETS, or any exam body.

Until a registered company is named on this page, the BUEXAM team is the contact point for this notice. Write to support@buexam.com.

A legal entity name, address, and tax identifiers will be published here before paid billing. Those details will be added before paid billing begins.

We process information only as needed to run the product you asked for:

• To provide the account, exam track, and practice you request.
• To remember language and theme in this browser.
• To keep the site reliable and secure.
• To answer a message you sent through Contact.

Depending on how you use BUEXAM, we may process:

• Account details used to sign in (for example display name and email).
• Exam preference chosen in onboarding (BUEPT, IELTS Academic, or TOEFL iBT), plus language and theme settings.
• Practice progress and answer drafts kept in this browser so you can resume attempts.
• Messages and contact details you submit through the Contact form.
• Basic technical data needed to run the site (for example browser storage keys used by the app).

We use this information to provide and improve the preparation experience:

• Keep your dashboard and practice library focused on the exam you chose.
• Restore in-progress attempts and section progress in this browser.
• Remember language and theme preferences.
• Respond to support and institutional inquiries.
• Understand product reliability and improve the preparation experience.

Many practice attempts and drafts are stored locally in your browser (for example under keys used by BUEXAM for attempts). Clearing site data for buexam.com removes that local progress.

Account and preference data is stored for your account and browser session. Storage and processors are described here as they apply to the product.

Local practice data may change or reset as the product improves. Export or keep your own notes if you need a durable record.

Practice drafts and attempts stored in this browser stay until you clear site data for buexam.com.

Account and contact messages are kept only as long as needed to provide the service and answer you. Email support to request account deletion.

We use a language cookie, theme preference, and browser storage for practice progress. We do not run advertising cookies.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share practice answers with exam bodies for scoring or admissions.

Service providers that host or operate the site may process technical data solely to deliver BUEXAM. Institutional contacts may receive only what is needed to answer an inquiry you started.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under KVKK and GDPR, including to:

• Change language and theme in Settings.
• Clear this site’s browser storage to remove local practice drafts and attempts.
• Request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of account-related data by emailing support.
• Stop using the product at any time.

Exam preference is set once in onboarding and shown read-only afterward so practice stays scoped to one exam track. To complain to a supervisory authority in the EU/EEA or to Türkiye’s KVKK, use the channels those authorities publish.

Do not enter government ID numbers, payment card details in free-text fields, health data, or other sensitive personal information you would not share with a preparation service.

Writing answers and speaking/listening practice content should stay within normal exam-prep material. Do not upload copyrighted official exam papers.

We may update this notice as the product, hosting, or billing model changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do.
